Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Northeastern University, Boston, in the College of Arts, Media and Design, and is jointly appointed as Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
l 课程简介:
In this course students will be introduced to the “design thinking” innovation methodology, in order being to think creatively towards designing and developing new media products and/or services.
The creative industries need managers who can manage creativity. The course is activity-based so you will go through the steps of generating ideas and turning them into prototypes for the media and entertainment industry. You will finish this two week-long workshop by presenting your ideas in two forms, a “process book” that captures the narrative of your journey, and a final class presentation.

Anthony De Ritis
教授CV
Anthony Paul De Ritis is Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Northeastern University, Boston, in the College of Arts, Media and Design, and is jointly appointed as Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
De Ritis has been described as a “genuinely American composer” by Gramophone, and has received performances around the world, including at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Harvard’s Sanders Theatre, Yale’s Woolsey Hall, Taipei’s Zhong Shan Hall, Beijing’s Yugong Yishan, Seoul’s KT Art Hall, and UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
In Fall 2011, De Ritis was a U.S. State Department Fulbright Senior Research Scholar at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, an institution that will publish De Ritis’ original music compositions for Chinese instruments in late 2015. De Ritis is also featured on Fulbright’s informational video on innovation.
In the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, De Ritis teaches Design Thinking for Market Driven Innovation, and Managing Creativity for Entrepreneurs to students in the M.B.A. program. In response to the U.S. General Management Admission Council’s (GMAC) statement that “Globally, leaders are calling on their people for more creativity and more innovation, and are calling upon the arts for inspiration”, De Ritis designed a course titled Arts-Based Learning for Managers. Together with his Northeastern University colleague, Dr. John Friar, De Ritis led one of the first workshops on Design Thinking at Tsinghua University’s X-Lab, and has recently been appointed as a Resident Expert with Tsinghua’s United Design Center.
Professor De Ritis earned his Ph.D. in Music Composition with an emphasis in computer applications form the University of California Berkeley, and his M.B.A. in High Tech from Northeastern University. Prior to his current role at Northeastern, he was Head of the Multimedia Studies program, a member of the Board of Advisors for School of Technological Entrepreneurship, and led the development of the Digital Media masters for the College of Professional Studies.
From 2002-2011, De Ritis led the concept and development of the “Online Conservatory” collaboration between the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Northeastern University, which was cited as a “Best Practice” in “web-based marketing” by Forrester Research (2006), a leading U.S.-based market research firm.
